Editorial Methodology
Every effectiveness or safety claim on this site is placed into one of these categories, and labeled accordingly wherever it appears:
| Category | What it means |
|---|---|
| Verified product fact | Confirmed directly from the manufacturer's current official checkout or packaging (e.g., price, guarantee length, ingredient list). |
| Seller claim | Stated by the manufacturer but not independently verified by us (e.g., "no auto-ship subscription"). |
| Independent evidence | A peer-reviewed, published study we traced back to its original source — tagged by strength (strongest / moderate / weaker) based on sample size, study design, and how closely it matches the actual product (same ingredient vs. same route/dose vs. finished product). |
| Consumer report | General patterns reported for this product category — never a fabricated individual quote. |
| Unverified claim | Something we found repeated elsewhere but could not confirm from a primary source — flagged explicitly, not repeated as fact. |
Evidence Distance
Ingredient-level evidence is never presented as proof that the finished product works. We rank evidence on a distance scale: an exact finished-product trial would be strongest; a trial on the same ingredient at the same dose and delivery format is next; a trial on the same ingredient at a different dose or format (which describes most of what's cited for LeanBiome) is weaker still; animal/lab evidence and anecdote are weakest. Where a claim sits on that scale is stated directly on the page it appears on.
What We Don't Do
- We don't publish fabricated testimonials, reviewer credentials, or ratings.
- We don't use "FDA approved" language for products that aren't.
- We don't imply a study on one ingredient validates an entire finished product.
